West 2nd is a Great Bar
by Dongcuss
The West 2nd Street Bar has been getting a bad rep lately for a few reasons, some justified, some not. We live down town and frequent the bar on a regular basis. We like to KJ's, love the singing, good and bad, and the mix of people who come in. Now granted we leave the bar around 1:00 AM before the burrito bangers make their appearences around 2:00 AM or so.
Lets face it, if your a burrito banger and your out at 3:00 AM, your most likely up to no good and looking for trouble or to meet a fat white female. Sometimes I think if they barred fat white females from the club, burrito bangers would cease to be a problem there.
The club try's to keep every type of person happy and in doing this they sometimes fail to reach a narrow section of the populous. I suggest if you want to have a good, safe, and fun time with good, cheap drinks, go in around 9:00 PM and leave no later then 1:00 and you will not see any problems.
The only exception to this rule is on the Street Vibration weekends as the burrito bangers all stay home because they are afraid of all the bikers down town.
- Pros: Ambience
- Cons: Parking
Great atmosphere on non weekends
by poshzombie
I went there while visiting last year. I had a great time. Went on a couple of weekdays so it always started up slow at first but by around 11:30pm people start to fill in and it picks up. The crowd seemed to be mostly locals which I liked and the bartender was great. That girl can sing. I've heard that it's less fun on the weekends because of the crowds so if you want to just chill and have a good time go there on a weekday.
- Pros: Great local atmosphere
- Cons: Gets crowded easily
im here , got a problem come see me

Seriously........
Reno of 2008 isn?t Reno of 2000; it?s a whole new crowd. I?m the Head of security and ill tell you if you think the bar is bad, you should have seen in 5 months ago. I?ve taken a great deal of personal abuse and violence to clean the crowd up. Its getting a lot better , but until the Rep we earned from being a "Oakland style bar" from the folks in Oakland goes away , we are going to have a lot of "gangster and Gangster wanna-be's " hanging out . We DO have a dress Code and enforce it. It would help us (the bar) if the RPD would sweep the sidewalks when we toss out the trouble makers. We have thrown out dirt bags trying to come in to sell dope and the RPD refuses to disperse them from in front of our club. So all the angry dirt bags that get refused entrance mad mug, talk endless trash `and threaten everyone coming in. It makes our job very hard while we try to clean up inside, we get almost no help on the outside.
So people walking by see nothing but a bunch of angry thugged out d-bags leaning on the building, smoking dope and drinking. (We can?t kick em off the public access) so we get bypassed by the folks we are trying to attract. It?s very hard right now.
RPD is doing a much better job lately; we have seen a lot more presence, so kudos to them.
My name is Chris, if there is a problem.see me im on friday-saturday night at the door
- Pros: all kinds of folks , cool music ,
