Not happy with service or refund policy.
Jared's has a very large selection from which to choose and some really nice-quality pieces but their customer service will prevent me from going back again.
1. If you want them to order you something to look at in a different metal (yellow gold as opposed to white gold) they will charge you a substantial deposit to do that and it takes 3-6 weeks for the new piece to arrive. (for us it was a $600 deposit).
2.When we panicked about what looked like a huge crack in our loose diamond under their scope, other salespeople in the store were laughing about it which was humiliating to say the least. It might be funny to you Jared's employees but to us it's a genuine panic to think our $6,000 diamond is now damaged.
3. When we bought the ring of choice we didn't see the itemized invoice until after we wrote the check, the amount of which the salesperson gave to us verbally. The written invoice showed an additional $200-plus charge for a warranty that was not discussed with us and added into the charges without any conversation having taken place as to whether we wanted it or not.
4. We discovered that if you don't buy a warranty, Jared will charge you $40 every time you have to have your white gold rhodium plated which is about every 6-8 months. They didn't tell us this until after we purchased the ring and wrote the check. It felt to us like they sneeked this in to the invoice without any conversation because they knew we wouldn't want to buy it.
5. In the end we decided not to take possesion of the ring and cancelled the deal. Jared's policy is that you will have to wait 14 days from the cancellation before they write the refund check and as much as 14 business days before you receive it. That is, in essence, a possible 5 week wait to get your cash back. That's a long time to tie up thousands of dollars. They have a 30 day return policy so if you pay for the ring and cancel the deal 30 days later, your money could be tied up as long 6 to 9 weeks so buyer beware there.
We have the worst memories of our engagement.... My husband and I had such a horrible experience here. This was supposed to be such a romantic time for us, and Jared's ruined the whole thing. It's a long story, but I will be brief. I wanted a ring that could be certified "Conflict Free." Most places will tell you they don't deal with conflict diamonds, but they can't prove it. A sales person's word is worthless to me and I wanted authentication of the sourcing of the diamonds. With that in mind, I decided to buy loose diamonds from PolarBearDiamonds dot com, a Canadian source for diamonds. We planned it all out with Jared's staff. When the diamonds arrived, we would bring them in and their "artisan" craftsman would make us our ring. They were new at the time, but they assured us that their craftsman was very capable and we left very excited. It was a process...first they had to make the mold, which I had to try on and approve. Then they made the ring, which my husband approved because he wanted the final product to be a surprise. Time kept passing and I was wondering why I hadn't been proposed to yet. I started to get antsy and finally asked my boyfriend (now hubby) why he hadn't proposed yet. He filled me in on the fact that in the time that he had had it (about three weeks), three diamonds had fallen out. Every time he took the ring out of the box to look at it, another diamond would fall out, and he would have to take it back and get it fixed. (Also, by the way, it was made of platinum, but when I saw it, looked like a piece of tin...like cracker jack box quality). When he told me this, I was pretty pissed. I called Adam, the store manager, and told him that we wanted our money back. They obviously couldn't make a ring that was working for us, thus we had been lied to, and thus we wanted to take our business elsewhere. First, he wouldn't return my calls, and then finally, he just flat out refused. When ANOTHER diamond fell out again, he finally relented and told us we could have store credit. I was so discontented with the whole process, and with their quality of eternity bands, that I just bought a plain solitaire. I have a ring that I didn't even want, in a style I don't like, and to top it all off, we have $2,000 worth of conflict free tiny diamonds just sitting in my jewelry box. It's not easy to resell diamonds that size, and I'm too scared to try to have someone make something out of them. I will always loathe Jared's for what they did to us. Every time I look at my ring, I remember. Adam could have fixed it by apologizing profusely and giving our money back, but they were rude and only in the end gave us store credit. They have since fired that "craftsman" but the fact that they screwed us to save his hide at that time is something I will never get over. If you want to gamble with an event like your wedding, and all the memories that surround it, you can go here. If you want to have happy memories of being proposed to, I would recommend somewhere else.
