Out of the way Thai, worth the drive.. The star of the menu is their Angel Wings. Two jumbo chicken wings, deboned and stuffed with minced chicken, herbs, vegetables, coated in Panko and deep fried. The complexity and utter uniqueness of this dish gives you a reason to drive out of your way.

Over the last few years I have have tried nearly the entire menu entrees / curries / noodle dishes / soups / appetizers. The various cooks have changed over that time as well as the food quality.

As with most far east dinging the dishes come in a spiciness of 1 to 5. Since I desire heat extreme I usually go for Native Thai Hot which can be variable depending on the restaurant. The thing that stands out, if you know spicy is that the oils build the heat factor higher and higher as you consume your dish. This tends to leave you enjoying the heat level beginning but feeling the burn by the end of the meal. Not so with the Green Papaya's food.

If it wasn't for the fact this restaurant was in a strip mall and had minimal decor, might doubt the possibilities of their food. There is only two fancy Thai restaurants in Reno, Green Papaya is not one of them. While the atmosphere is semi-ok the food is usually above average.

I have been to all the Thai restaurants in Reno, as Thai is my favorite by a long-shot so I know my Thai food.

best thai in Reno. The place is small but the food is very tasty. The flavbors are just right. Had the Panang Curry, and is was great flavor, and served a little thicker then some places. I like that. Also had the silver bean thread noodles, just order #21, really good wok flavor and cook just right. A much better choice in the Caughlin ranch area then Francis' Asian Bistro. That place is baaad, with an owner with a bad attitude. Charge peolpe double to put american chinese food on a black square plate and call it innovative! Ha, forget that! Green Papaya is way better!

Really good Thai food!. I was in Reno for a night and was in the mood for some Thai food. Being from San Francisco, where we have many good Thai restaurants, I has a bit apprehensive about the quality of "ethnic foods" in Reno. I found Green Papaya in the yellow pages and decided to give it a try. The restaurant itself was empty but as we dined there was a steady stream of customers picking up take out orders. We ordered appetizers of chicken satay, crispy tofu, and Tom-Kha soup. You can order the soup in degrees of spiciness rated from 1-5. We ordered it as 3 and I thought it could have been a tad more spicy (I like it hot). My entree was a large plate of yummy tofu pad Thai.

Our dishes were brought out quicky and the service was excelent!

I highly recomend Green Papaya!

great food. I have now offically dined at all 8 Thai restaurants in the Reno area and I can say without exception The Green Papaya is the best. Service excellent, food mouth watering, portions above average. I highly reccomend The green Papaya. Since my move from the bay area I have been searching for great thai food and now I've found it. The Green Papaya is a small establishment so make sure you make a reservation.

great food. Excellent food , great service, reasonable prices. The portions are very good size for the price and I was told they have no msg. They also cater to vegetarians and vegans very healthy food.
