Excellent practice. Dr Swanson and his staff are great, he treats his patients with respect and explains diagnosis well. I was referred by a friend and they are happy as well.

Best Family Doctors in Northern Nevada. I have been a patient of Family Medicine & Associates since 2002. Dr. Swanson is no longer with the group, but I have no experience as his patient. Dr. MacKenzie is very nice and thorough. He is ideal if your preference is a Dr. that gets right to the point and you are in and out of the office. If you need a Dr. that is incredibly compassionate and takes her time to know you personally and has an amazing "bed side manner," then Dr. Patty Levan is the best in the business. She and her staff are never rude. I have seen patients behave badly, but I have never seen the staff or the Doctors be anything other than accommodating and caring. They make you feel at home and they all have a great sense of humor. My children love her. Actually, many members of our extended family are patients of Dr. Levan too. It is unfortunate when someone has a bad experience with a doctor, but doctors are human and have their challenges, their good days and their bad.

I think some times people have unrealistic expectations of what Doctors can provide for them. I know that obtaining Disability Payments is a long, complicated process for the both the Dr. and the patient. But I highly recommend Family Medical & Associates and Dr. Levan. You won't find a better Doctor.

Rude. I was shocked by how I was treated at Family Medicine Associates. Not only did I discover Dr. Swanson disussing my condition with a group of other people that I am assuming were other medical staff out in the open, but overheard one of these people say that he should simply prescribe a placebo for me. When I discussed that I was filing for disability he seemed somewhay understanding during the exam, but when I submitted a form I received a chilling response from his nurse Melissa who was extremely rude and short with me and explained that it would be impossible for Dr. Swanson to comply with my request since he had only seen me once. Normally I would have been accepting of this except for Dr. Swanson's seemingly willingness during the actual exam.

What he did prescribe for my sleep barely helped and I didn't at all feel welcome in asking for alternatives.

The office staff including his nurse are also extremely rude and short.

I would not recommend this doctor nor this facility to anyone.
