In Short – Established in 1977, the Claim Jumper draws families, seniors and professionals with a mix of Old-West decor and a reliable menu of American classics. Logs, corrugated tin, rock and warm fireplaces embellish the unique ambience. not Attentive

by Jadestone

No desserts that are no sugar added. Moderate food quality. Way too big of servings. (An appetizer could feed 3 people for their meal) expensive for the kind of food served. Servers were inattentive. My non diabetic party members (all childern) were asked about dessert in front of several (known to the servers) Diabetic (adults in my party) members.

  • Pros: lots of food
  • Cons: service, price, food quality, Variety of food

Good Food, Friendly Atmosphere, Pleasant Service

by looking4goodeats

I'm not usually a big fan of chain resaurants, so my recent visit to Reno's Claim Jumper was a pleasant surprise. We went on a Saturday night and were seated immedately. The server quickly took our drink orders and had water on the table in the first 5 minutes.

I ordered the crab cakes and cedar plank grilled salmon... both were enjoyable. The crab cakes are lightly seasoned and browned; good but missing some kick if eaten alone. The cakes are served with two dipping sauces and fresh mixed greens. Both sauces were enjoyable, but could use just a touch less mayonaise. The greens helped to make the dish as they were fresh and crisp.

The salmon was seasoned nicely and cooked perfectly, topped with a mango salsa. The mountainous side of white rice could be toned down a bit, but a great, light dish overall.

Being new to the Reno area as Bay Area transplants, we've had some challenges in finding good eats, so Claim Jumper was certainly a relief.

  • Pros: Easy parking, good service, good food

Excellent value and dinner!

by nlshillings

The food here is alwasy fantastic! And you'll never leave hungry - the portions are enormous! The service is friendly and prompt. The ambiance is fun, but not over the top! In a restaurant wasteland like Reno, I highly recommended it! Oh, and the Widow Maker Burger is out of this world!

  • Pros: The food is always great!
  • Cons: The wait can be a while - make reservations!
