An italian gem around the lake. Everything here was wonderful. I have only been once as I'm from LA but I plan on returning to Lanza's with every future trip to Lake Tahoe. The food, the atmosphere, even the building itself impressed me as just perfect. A relaxed and enjoyable Italian culinary experience. Expect large portions.
Bland, general Sicilian-style pasta and pizza. Lanza's does not accept reservations and our party of 8 had to wait one-and-a-half hours to be seated. We went during the off-season in Lake Tahoe, but this place is very popular with the locals. One gentleman also waiting has been dining there for 35 years. His favorite dish was the lasagna; how I wish I'd tried the lasagna! After our group was finally seated, our hostess was friendly. And the food? Well, we were not impressed with anything other than the salad and the garlic cheese bread appetizer. The pasta dishes ordered were bland and lacking fresh flavor. The pizza touted as thin and crispy was not actually that thin or crispy and also lacked flavor. And whatever you do, do not order Joe's vegetarian pasta special. Fortunately, this restaurant was not so pricey. We left wishing we had just had the crisp salad and garlic cheese bread only. We did not try dessert.
Delicious pizza and other Italian dishes. We have been going to Lanza's for over twenty years now and they are still one of our top picks at the Lake. Great quality food, friendly service, and a fun bar/lounge make this a favorite for life.
Always a favorite. A good friend took us to Lanza's years ago during one of our many group trips to Tahoe. We eat there at least once every time we're even close to town. The food is always good! The service is really hit and miss. Can be great, can be really slow or flat out weird. We once boxed up our dinner and left because the manager couldn't (wouldn't) get two groups of drunk 40-somethings to quiet down and stop flashing each other. Trust me, that's not something you want to see while eating dinner.
