The Scene
Unlike many "lakefront" Tahoe hotels that turn out to be blocks away from the water, this north shore motel might get wet if lake levels rose more than a few feet. Guests can take in unobstructed views of the deep blue lake and the glimmering white-capped mountains of Heavenly from the property's private sandy beach, heated pool or lakefront Jacuzzi.
The Details
Guest rooms are subtle country versions of the standard motel room with wood paneling, beige carpet, and pastel-quilted bedspreads. Several have dramatic views of the pristine lake and surrounding peaks. Though nothing luxurious, most rooms come with a refrigerator and microwave, perfect for those who smuggle goodies from the nearby Vegas-style all-you-can-eat buffets. For a more cozy experience, a few units are available with full-size kitchens and dining rooms that feel more like private cabins than cookie-cutter hotel rooms.
